The new livery is designed with keeping costs down. More eurowhite , less gradients, and simplistic design means for a cheap and effective design.
The second and more enduring
Alitalia livery was presented in the
autumn of 1947. The fuselage was
white, while at the height of the
windows there were five lines that
resembled a musical pentagram;
above and below the windows there were two thicker blue lines than the three blue
ones; the part in front of the cockpit was instead black, while the vertical flag had
the Italian flag. This livery lasted 22 years undergoing several modifications: the
ogive, initially white, subsequently became black; the area of the fuselage below
the windows became silver, while the area above remained white. Like other
airlines, Alitalia also painted a plane in historical livery, in fact, in March 2012 the
Airbus A321 EI-IXI was repainted with the pentagram livery, which it will
wear until the demolition took place in November 2013.

Lufthansa officially has launched its new livery in Frankfurt . Some 40 Lufthansa aircraft will receive the new paintwork this year, as part of a seven-year programme to introduce the scheme across its entire fleet. The new design features darker blue paint, which extends over the rear of the fuselage from the tail. The font used for the word “Lufthansa” on the forward fuselage has been updated.
